The Snippet
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did you make this?
I just wanted somewhere to peek at for five minutes a couple times a day and see any relevant news. Rather than scrolling through RSS feeds or newsletters, just pop in, read whats up and move on.
It's all AI news and tech news, what about other news?
Non-tech news is included as well, but it is not the focus. I have some evals to try and make sure we capture world news as well. However, the target audience is technical leaders and engineers so there are more sources that are AI and tech related.
I dont like the articles you selected, what do I do?
You can ignore it. It will go away in 24 hours.
Why do you only show five articles?
Because its a quick pulse check on what seems most important. The idea is to take a peek, get a quick gist of important things and move on with your day.
Why are articles rotated out after 24 hours?
Honestly, I like the simplicity of it. It makes it feel like a fresh start every day.
How often are articles updated?
Articles are curated three times daily at 9AM EST (6AM PST), 3PM EST (12PM PST), and 9PM EST (6PM PST). Each update consists of hours gathered in the last 6 hours, except for the first update of the day which also searches for any articles published since the previous night.
How are articles selected?
There are a bunch of sources and feeds that are checked during each slot. I then pass the articles to an AI model to summarize and rank them based on technical significance.
What is technical significance?
Technical significance is a score evaluated from keywords and phrases in the article that are relevant to the tech industry (and more specifically AI).
Do you pick any articles manually?
No.
Do you have any articles that are not AI related?
Yes
<insert world event> happened, why is it not in the feed?
Probably because the ranking algorithm missed it. Consider this a pre-alpha, I promise I'll get it sorted out at some point!
Why cant I add my own RSS feeds?
There are so many options out there that you can use to create your own feed. I recommend using a service like Feedly or Inoreader to create your own feed.
Why are you using an AI model to summarize the articles?
Because it is a quick and easy way to get a summary of the article. If something seems off, the article is linked as well.
Can I view a previous days articles?
You can create an account to save up to five articles to your account. These articles will not rotate out and will remain in your account indefinitely.
Why can I only save five articles?
Because you'll likely just end up hoarding onto more than five and never read them.
